Mirror’s Edge EP9: Runner Up
And in this final installment of Mirror’s Edge, we finish the game without ever even meeting the villain. Was there even a villain? I don’t know.

Mirrors edge is probably at its best in the time trial mode, running the same path over means you are focused on execution rather than puzzling out where to go, and of course no one to fight. I do wish they made restart instant though.
I thought I would like catalyst more, since it had a lot of similar trials, but it didn’t grab me. I do want to take another state at it now though
So is orange & black the new black? Or is it the new orange (which is the new black)?
PS It’s 2am where I am, and I’m usually pretty good at staying quiet, but I think I just woke the poor folks downstairs when I burst out laughing at “Expedia-style cutscenes.”
So, i’ve been making this suggestion for the last couple seasons. Time to dust it off again:
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines! A retro season, focused on the last gem (flawed that it might be) produced in the dying days of Troika Games. It could be an opportunity to look at the evolution of the RPG over the last decade plus, a look at a classic… what more do you need?
Some TwentySiders (exetera, krellen, and newdarkcloud) did an LP of VtM:B a few years ago; you might want to check that out:

I’m glad it’s over. As said before I thought I’d like mirror’s edge and didn’t, at the time I thought it was actually playing the game. You guys shone a light on it mostly being down to this being an elevated tech demo. Your work this season was fine though, hope the next game is more entertaining.
“Hotline Miami music” is generally called synthwave, BTW. And IMO some of the music in Mirror’s Edge can be synthwaveish, especially the song you point out at the start of this ep, though it’s obviously much more chill than the type of stuff HM uses.
I’m pretty sure they never take suggestions as to what game to cover next. So, here are my suggestions, in ascending order of line-length:
-Portal
-Mountain
-Devil Daggers
-Final Fantasy XIII-2
-Batman: Arkham Origins
-Championship Manager 2
-Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
-Madden NFL 2019 (I’m assuming this is out already)
-Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars- The Director’s Cut
-Will Fight For Food: Super Actual Sellout: Game Of The Hour
It took me to the last episode, but that initial bit in the final building almost made me motion sick, and usually I can cope with Josh bunny-hopping.
Anyway, if we’re having theories on where the game is set, they literally have a huge skyscraper called The Shard, a bit like London? And there seems to be a river, like the Thames? Case Closed.
Next time: How about going all the way back and playing through Ultima Underworld! It’s a classic, it’s kinda the ur-0451 game. Failing that, how about Temple of Elemental Evil or the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games? (I know these are all super unlikely)
There are mountains in the view, though. Seriously, if it weren’t for the river/port, I’d say it’s Atlanta, but we have no port and our river is nowhere near that big. The mountains and sprawl in every direction do match quite well…
Maybe Hong Kong? Or Seattle? I’m kinda liking Seattle the more I think about it (even without a Space Needle)
