The comments about how it feels like the story here should have had more to do with the protagonist’s relationship with Jessamine are actually pretty interesting. Now I also have to wonder if some scenes relating to that got cut down for one reason or another. But whether they’d ever intended to have more to that part of the story or not, it is still a shame, and probably one of this game’s only significant narrative failings. And especially with me being a young woman who had a complicated relationship with my dead mother, I should have been PERFECTLY primed to be bawling my eyes out during the final scene between Emily and Jessamine, but instead it just ended up not having much of an impact (like, maybe there were a couple little tears, but that’s it). They were hitting me right in my sorest spot, and somehow they managed to whiff it.
If you don’t take the car to the clockwork mansion, they put in an extra character who arrives to pick up presumably one of the nobles that you see inside, so that there’s a car there to get Sokolov back without having to carry him all the way. I thought that was a nice touch.
